Privacy policy
Effective 4 September 2026
This policy explains what information Dialektos Investments (Pty) Ltd collects when you use Pego, why, where it lives, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the service needs to do bookkeeping for you, we do not sell it, and you can leave with your data.
1. What we collect
Account information: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). Business records: whatever you put into your books: transactions, invoices, bills, payroll and employee details, contacts, and the documents you attach, such as receipts and bank statements. Technical basics: logs of sign-ins and requests (timestamps, IP addresses) kept for security and troubleshooting.
We do not collect more than the service needs, and we do not buy data about you.
2. How we use it
To run Pego for you: keeping your books, producing your documents and reports, sending the emails you trigger (invoices to your customers, invitations to your team), and keeping the service secure. We also look at aggregate, de-identified usage to improve the product. We do not sell your information or use your business records for advertising.
3. AI features
When you use receipt reading or bank-statement suggestions, the document you uploaded is processed by an AI model running on Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock) to extract or suggest bookkeeping details. The results come back to you for approval; the AI provider processes the content to serve the request and, under the terms we use, does not train models on your data. If you prefer not to use AI features, simply enter documents manually. Nothing else depends on them.
4. Where your data lives
Pego runs on reputable cloud infrastructure: the application is hosted on Vercel, your records are stored in a Neon-managed Postgres database, and uploaded files (receipts, statements, logos, generated PDFs) are stored in Amazon Web Services S3. Emails are delivered through Resend. These providers store data in data centres outside Botswana; we choose them for their security certifications, and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
5. Who can see it
Your team, according to the roles you assign in Pego. Our platform staff can access account and business records only where needed to operate the service or to help you when you ask for support, and access is limited to specifically authorised administrators. We disclose information to authorities only when the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
For as long as your account is active. Accounting records are the kind of thing you are usually required to keep for several years, so we do not auto-delete your books. But if you close your account and ask for deletion, we delete your data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain specific records.
7. Your choices and rights
You can access and correct your information in the product, export your records, and ask for your account and data to be deleted. Botswana's Data Protection Act gives you rights over your personal information, and we honour requests consistent with it. Write to investments@dialektos.biz for any of these.
8. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will notify account holders by email or in the product before the change takes effect. See also our terms of service.
